Low Carbon is committing to a Statement of Principles that we consider best in class within the industry:

  • By 2030 our operating energy from waste portfolio will be aligned with Low Carbon’s ambition of achieving net zero GHG emissions.
  • From 2025 onwards, all projects that reach financial close will include either a secured heat offtake or also incorporate a carbon capture capability as part of the plant's construction design.

  • By allowing flexibility in our calorific value requirements, we will enable contracted fuel suppliers to maximise recovery of recyclable material from the pre-treatment process.
  • Ensuring our facilities only contract residual waste that has already undergone processing to maximise extraction of recyclable materials.
